The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce is a huge player in supplier diversity. The organization came to life in November 2002. The founders’ realized that economic inclusion could be a significant pillar of the LGBT equality movement, and that while LGBT businesses made significant contributions into the economy, there were still barriers to overcome.
The organization's influence spreads across the United States with a mandate to help an estimated 1.4 million LGBT business owners within their communities and on a national level. Their robust network and certification program increases access to strategic growth opportunities.
NGLCC encourages all its members to build relationships that create a better fighting chance in the corporate world. It incentivizes and encourages its large list of corporate partners to hire LGBT owned and certified small businesses. Other benefits include group purchasing power, professional development opportunities, publications, advocacy, and information exchange.
NGLCC has created and spearedheaded programs and events aimed at helping LGBT businesses grow and succeed in a highly competitive market.
