Our Review

The Small Business Administration was created by congress in 1953  to aid, counsel, assist, and protect the interests of small business. A major part of the SBA’s services is certifying small businesses and helping certified businesses with access to mentorship programs and business opportunities from various state agencies and corporations. This program is run under a subdivision of SBA called Certify.

As supplier diversity continues to gain popularity across America, the Federal Government remains the largest buyer of products and services from diverse businesses. SBA comes with backing from the government and has a variety of programs to help small businesses compete for these federal contracts.

The SBA runs various programs targeting different small business groups including women and minority-owned as well as Historically Underutilized Business Zones. Its business products and services are delivered across all states and United States territories through a network of private sector and nonprofit partners.

SBA  Says:

“The SBA continued to partner with agencies across the Federal Government to expand small business contracting opportunities. From FY 2015 through FY 2019, small businesses were awarded more than $500 billion in federal contracts (FY 2020 contracting numbers continue to be collected and certified). The Federal Government continues to exceed its small disadvantaged and service-disabled, veteran-owned small business goals but faces challenges with HUBZone and women-owned small business goals.”
